Song: Starlit Dance of the Thistle King

“…then, and only then, does the royal king’s court bloom, yielding its blossoms to the stars’ watchful gaze, roots pulling gently from the fertile ground below, and as the raindrops land onto bud and leaf and grass, he steps out and dances.”

    Haaaai!

So, I like the contrasting rhythmic bits at the beginning where certain parts seem to be (intentionally) slightly out of time – gives it a nice quirky feel =P The resonance of the notes also seems to build up (though that may have just been my ears) which gives it the sense that it’s evolving – but I like the thematic continuation throughout which holds it together despite the shifts in instruments etc.

Speaking of instruments… I particularly liked the bit that sounded like a harpsichord (that apparently wasn’t a harpsichord) but had a regal sound – very in-keeping with theme = good! =P

I also thought the strict, steady timing was good for a regal dance, especially the fact that it wasn’t rushed (like the weird music these young’uns listen to nowadays…)

So yes – I think the dancing bit is captured well throughout, but I wonder if more dynamic shifts would accentuate the bits about blossoms and stars =O … can you do that for me? =P

That saaaaid – the twinkly bit in the middle does give it a supernatural element which I like – which is good in the middle especially as its positioning epitomises the supernatural nature of the shift that’s taken place in the dancing dude – but I think dynamics things would help.

3/4 of the way through – at about 3 mins I guess – it gets very busy which is good for reflecting the theme but I wonder if you need to make one of the two main rhythms quieter as they seem a little too much in conflict here.

Ending is good in that it is similar to the beginning but a definite change has taken place so… yay! It is transformative! I likes a lot! :O

Wow, this is very different than your regular stuff. Was good, kinda calypso or something it reminds me of but quiet fairy tale too. Or like 70s children show music for the credits.

With some deep voiced guy saying “And all was well in twiddle-land. See you next time.”
